Decibully helped cap off Summerfest '08 with a short but exciting set at the Zippo Rock stage Sunday night, filing the slot before ex-Grateful Dead member Mickey Hart and his new band headlined.
Deadheads aren't exactly the band's crowd, but for every five tie-dyed T-shirts and hemp necklaces, there was a die-hard Decibully fan singing along with the "Sing Out America!" songs and curious about the new material off the soon-to-be-released third album, "World Travels Fast."
It's been three years since "Sing Out" and the band's been promising -- and teasing -- the new record for at least a year. Yesterday's post on its Myspace confirms that it shouldn't be too much longer, and after what we heard live tonight, that's great news.
Guitar player / sample and sounds guy Ryan Weber joined the band for tonight's show, returning the total number back to seven Decibullies on stage. Together they tore through new songs like "The Weakest Kind of Heart" that sound like the biggest work the band's ever produced. Want proof? Listen to other new ones, "Live by the Lake" and "I Won't be Without" on its Myspace page.
Sadly, despite the venue, Decibully didn't play anything off its first full length, "City of Festivals," although frontman B.J. Seidel did announce that Milwaukee was "his favorite city in the whole world."
Aww, we love you, too.
