A pair of goals in the final 2 minutes 11 seconds gave the Admirals a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves Friday night at the Bradley Center.

After failing to capitalize on the two-man advantage -- but still on the power play -- Hugh Jessiman took Mark Matheson's pass at the blue line, skated down through the face-off circle and slipped past Chicago goaltender Brent Krahn for the score with 2:11 left in the period.

Ryan Maki, who put the Admirals on the board early in the first period, added his second score of the game on an empty netter with 1.6 seconds remaining.

All three of Milwaukee's goals Friday came on the power play.

The goals may have clinched the victory, but it was a defensive stand earlier in the period that made it possible. With the Wolves on a two-man advantage after a scrum that sent three Admirals to the penalty box with early in the third period, Milwaukee cleared the puck four times and stifled three Chicago shots to preserve the 1-1 tie.

"The guys killing understand exactly what we want in that situation," said Admirals head coach Lane Lambert. "Our penalty-killers have done a tremendous job all year long."

With the West Division title already wrapped up, the Admirals still have some scoreboard-watching to do. They won't know their playoff opponent until later this weekend and still have a shot at finishing with the best record in the Western Conference.

Regardless of the opponent, Milwaukee will open the postseason on Thursday night at the Bradley Center with Game 2 of the division semifinals to be played Saturday, also at home.
