It would be accurate to say that the Bonecrushers, Milwaukee's fledgling franchise in the Continental Indoor Football League, are in disarray.
But, it would also be an understatement.
Head coach Gilbert Brown, general manager Chris Kokalis, defensive coordinator Gene Rhodes, Jr., and offensive coordinator Jeff Hermann have resigned from the team, according to a press release issued this morning.
Amid rumors that the team has not paid its players and is on the brink of collapse, the team has scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Best Western Midway Hotel in Brookfield.
In a joint statement, Kokalis and Brown said:
"We're grateful for the opportunity to work with the Bonecrushers and help bring indoor football back to Milwaukee. The team was making progress, however we have irreconcilable differences with the ownership group of the Bonecrushers and feel it is best to move in a new direction. We wish the Bonecrushers continued success in their pursuit of a CIFL championship, and encourage football fans in southeastern Wisconsin to support this young, exciting team."
Rumors are swirling that the team may be forced to declare bankruptcy and cancel the remainder of its season.
