It's not like you should need an excuse to go bowling on a Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, but here's one, anyway: If you can put together a team and participate in "Ape's Bowling 'Cause We Care-A-Thon" this weekend at Bay View Bowl, 2416 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., you'll be helping out to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Here are the "deets," as my friend Craig likes to say:
It's $20 per person, or $95 for a team of five (yes, you can use bumpers). Included are three games of nine-pin tap (which means a 9 counts as a strike), shoes, appetizers and a raffle ticket.
Sign up is at 3:30 p.m., with bowling at 4 p.m.
Bay View Bowl is awarding cash prizes for top three highest scoring men and women, as well as prizes for best bowling style and best dressed bowler. There are also silent auctions, raffles and door prizes.
All proceeds go to for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. To reserve your spot, call Bay View Bowl at (414) 483-0950.

I am bowling this weekend for a different cause, The Dream Pool Foundation, which is for the prevention of suicide as well as giving scholarships to artists, down at Root River Lanes.
