Tim Neverett, who currently hosts the morning show on sports talk station KLZ-AM in Denver, has emerged as a strong candidate for the Brewers play-by-play job, sources told OnMilwaukee.com.
Neverett, a New England native, has spent more than 20 years in broadcasting. He has worked for the Sports Entertainment Network, a precursor to Sporting News Radio, and Sports Fan Radio Network. He has been the play by play announcer for University of Nevada-Las Vegas football and basketball, called action for the Las Vegas thunder of the International Hockey League and has called a variety of events on FSN Rocky Mount, CSTV, SportsWest and ESPN2. He is currently the TV play by play voice for Denver University's hockey team.
Neverett is believed to be in the final group of candidates along with Steve Stewart, who spent the past three seasons as a radio announcer with the Cincinnati Reds, and Brian Anderson from The Golf Channel.
The Brewers are looking to replace Daron Sutton, who accepted a position with Arizona. Insiders expect the Brewers to announce a decision some time before the holidays.
