The Bucks have signed Damir Markota, the 59th pick in the NBA Draft, to a multi-year contract. The Bucks acquired Markota from the San Antonio Spurs in a draft-night deal that will send the better ofthe Bucks' two second-round picks in 2007 to San Antonio.
Markota, a 20-year-old native of Croatia, averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds for Cibona Zagreb of the Adriatic League last year.
"Damir is a skilled, young player who we felt fortunate to acquire on draft night," Harris said. "Having followed his professional career in Europe, we believe he has the necessary tools to be a productive NBA player. He will have every opportunity to continue his development by competing at the NBA level.
Harris said that Markota may get experience with the Bucks' D-League affiliate in Tulsa, much like Ersan Ilyasova did last year.
