The U.S. Olympic Committee announced today that it had eliminated Houston and Philadelphia from consideration for a 2016 Olympic bid, leaving just Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Milwaukee is expected to play a role in Chicago's bid possibly as a secondary city that will be able to accommodate minor infrastructure and lodging needs.
The three finalists will have to submit more detailed plans by the fall, after which a USOC evaluation commission will review the revised plans, visit cities and make an official report.
Each city then will make a final presentation to the USOC board of directors.

Jeramey said: I thought I had read in the JS that Milwaukee was not to get any "secondary" city action outside of maybe hotel revenue. They had optioned not to use any Milwaukee facilities for the games themselves, unfortunately.
