Yes, that was me at the Brewers-Reds game Friday night at Miller Park.
If you watched the TV broadcast on Fox Sports Wisconsin, you couldn't avoid seeing my mug every time a right-handed batter stepped to the plate. That was me, sitting right behind the visitor's dugout, eating peanuts, enjoying a Miller product and talking baseball with my friend, Mark Simons.
I've probably attended somewhere around 1,500 Brewers games since 1995, nearly all of them in the press box, but I never get asked about any game as often as when I sit next to my friend, Mark Simons, aka "The Doorman."
Before the game on Saturday night, I bumped into Brewers general manager Doug Melvin.
"I saw you sitting by 'The Doorman' last night," Melvin said.
So did everyone else in town. I received a bunch of calls, e-mails and text messages from people asking me how I got such a great seat and who the guy with the goatee and the jersey was sitting next to me.
Plenty of Brewers fans know Simons, who is a diehard Brewers fan who sits in those seats nearly every game, most often with his wife, Stephanie.
But, plenty of people don't ... and they wonder ... which is why I did this feature on him last September. If you haven't seen it, give it a look. It'll clear up your questions and when your friends ask, "Who is that dude?" you can tell them where to look for the answer.
By the way, you'll want to pay attention to Mark and Stephanie when the White Sox are in town June 12-14. Though she absolutely loves the Brewers, Stephanie grew up on Chicago's south side and is a devoted White Sox fan. That should make for good TV.
