Milwaukee Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash informed the media on Wednesday that all-star catcher Jonathan Lucroy aggravated his right hamstring sometime after the Brewers On Deck event on Jan. 26, and the nature of the injury will force Lucroy to miss 4-6 weeks.

Pitchers and catchers are due to report to Maryvale, Ariz., on Feb. 20.

Ash, who noted the injury is at the top of the hamstring, said Lucroy can still hit and throw and it shouldn't alter the team's plans to platoon him at first base.

Ash also said Lucroy noted that the hamstring was bothering him toward the end of last year. Though he hit .316 in September and October, Lucroy only slugged at a .389 clip and did not homer while hitting seven doubles in his final 26 games.

The team expects Lucroy to be ready to play on Opening Day at Miller Park on April 6.
