There's something about years that end in "7" in Wisconsin sports history. That could be a good omen for 2007.

Think about it. In 1957, the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series over the New York Yankees, taking the clincher in Game 7 at Yankee Stadium. "Bushville" won. It remains Milwaukee's only World Series title.

In 1967, the Packers won the "Ice Bowl" over the Dallas Cowboys on the Bart Starr quarterback sneak at Lambeau Field. It is generally recognized as the most memorable game in franchise history.

In 1977, Marquette won the NCAA Championship in Atlanta over North Carolina to give Al McGuire a perfect gift for his retirement from coaching.

The Brewers didn't win the World Series in 1987, but they made plenty of memories. They started the season 13-0, Juan Nieves threw the only no-hitter in club history and Paul Molitor put together a 39-game hitting streak.

The Packers won their last Super Bowl in January 1997, defeating the New England Patriots at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Okay 2007, what do you have in store for us? A Wisconsin Badgers national championship in basketball? A return to the playoffs for the Brewers 25 years after their last appearance? A magical run for the Bucks, Packers, Marquette basketball or the Wisconsin football team? Maybe sports in this state can roll another "Lucky 7."
