ESPN.com reported today that 40-year-old pitcher Curt Schilling would be willing to play for the Brewers in 2007 if he is not re-signed by Boston.
The right-hander included the Brewers in a list of 13 teams, including Cleveland, the Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia, Arizona and the Chicago Cubs, plus 2006 World Series teams Detroit and St. Louis, the New York Mets, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego. He listed the Brewers last.
Schilling also indicated that he's looking for a one-year contract. The Brewers recently cleared up some salary by letting go of long-time outfielder Geoff Jenkins.
"If truly, physically, I was at the end of my rope, this would be the ultimate way to walk away," Schilling said in his weekly radio appearance in Boston. "I don't think I'm there."
