Bad news for Badgers fans hoping to catch the battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe in their season finale at Minnesota next weekend: if you don't have a dish, you're going to be out of luck.
The Wisconsin-Minnesota game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday, but will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network, which is not carried by either Time Warner or Charter Cable.
On the brighter side, it's only about a six-hour drive to Minneapolis and with the Gophers 1-10, 0-7, picking up tickets to see the game at the Metrodome shouldn't be too difficult a task.

OMC, who are Jeff, Frank, Christo and Greg? Everyone else that posts a Talkback seems to have OMC Reader Bio when you click on their name? Greg: Sure it costs something, but I'm willing to bet you that the marginal cost to add one more channel is insignificant to what TW would recieve in ad sales. You must be naive as well for not understanding economies of scale. Again, I would normally never care about a business negotiation such as this, but my loyalty to the Badgers trumps my adoration for free markets.

Sounds like the TimeWarner PR dept. is in full spin. You guys will be busy once the BBall season heats up. How does adding one channel cost TW anything? Economies of scale are a beautiful thing. Adding such a channel will no doubt bring significant ad revenue to the cable companies. The question is how much more can they make if they charge for it? I'd rather see the B10 receive the money they are fighting over.

Christo, The way that Time Warner is losing customers, coupled with the fact that the Big 10 Network is making a profit, I would have more faith in BTN being here in 2 years over TWC. Direct TV and Dish picked up the BTN (and NFLN) and the rates didn't go up. Amazing how that works. Direct TV also added about 70 more HiDef Channel. AND THE RATES DIDN'T GO UP!!! So, in conclusion, believe all the lies that TWC is telling you. I'll be watching my Direct TV.

Damn!!! What is TimeWarner thinking by not making a deal with the Big Ten? Wasn't there just an article in the local paper stating that they are loosing customers? While in other circumstances, I wouldn't take a side between two sophisticated entities in the midst of heavy negotiations, my love of the Big Ten has forced me to take sides. The network is about 50% owned by the conference, and 50% by FoxSports. Therefore, I want the best deal possible for the network because I what is best for the BigTen and their athletic departments. That deal would be access to the network on the standard package, which create the most revenue for the Big Ten and more money to support their sports. Anyone who is a fan of any Big Ten school should join the rally against the cable companies and lobby for free access. I can't help but believe that they'll cave once the Greatful Red realize that 18 games will only be available on the Network.
