University of Wisconsin sophomore running back Lance Smith has been suspended for the team's five regular-season road games, the school announced Wednesday.
Smith was suspended from the team July 18 for violating the school's student athlete discipline policy. He was reinstated in August and rushed 11 times for 60 yards in the season-opening victory over Washington State last week.
Smith, a 19-year-old native of Warren, Ohio, faces charges of battery and disorderly conduct for his alleged actions during a fight with his girlfriend.
Under the arrangement announced by Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez and Dean of Students Lori Berquam, Smith will miss games at UNLV, Illinois, Penn State, Ohio State and Minnesota.
