What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published May 19, 2009 at 9:31 a.m.

A producer from the Travel Channel called recently to pick my brain about "off the map" attractions in Wisconsin. "Off the Map" is the working title for a new show on the network that would "take the viewers to the great restaurants, shops and events that most people have never heard of, that are more or less 'Off The Map.'"

I came up with several, but being the kind-hearted soul that I am, I told him that we'd open up the conversation to OnMilwaukee.com readers like you.

So, that is exactly what I'm doing.

Where are your favorite "off the map" Wisconsin destinations? Those places with character and personality that are not going to make a travel guide but someone like the Travel Channel would love to feature.

Use the Talkback feature to and I'll pass the ideas along and/or we'll use them for the OnMilwaukee.com Travel and Visitors section. Thanks!

the walworth county fair in elkhorn is THE BEST county fair in the united states evey labor day weekend for a 6 day run. free grand stand shows, harness horse racing, barn after barn of livestock, a building full of judged antiques, tractor runs/competitions, pig running contests, huge area of new farming equipement, a great carnival, yummy fair food, on and on! i have been attending this fair for 60 years and little has changed in all those years! and i live in milwaukee now. go and see it--you will be amazed! jerry johnson

I think Locust Street Day is the best festival in Milwaukee! The Beer Run and many music stages are awesome, plus the drum circle is fun too. It's a day festival, so pretty family friendly, but also fun to drink too many Riverwest Steins with your friends! It's a great kick-off to summer and not so well-known, I feel. I recommend!!!!!

I like Mazomanie Beach. It just seems unexpected to find a nude beach in Wisconsin and I like that. Also if it isn't in the travel guide, I think that the SafeHouse bar is definatley unique place to visit too.
