What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Jan. 13, 2009 at 5:35 p.m.

An alert reader e-mailed us this afternoon about a column on citypages.com, a Minneapolis alternative weekly newspaper and Web site. The series of articles is entitled, "What's Wrong with Wisconsin?" and points out various "news of the weird" style tidbits that went down in America's Dairyland.

Some of the bullet points are pretty wrong, indeed. But it's taken out of context and petty, as every state in the Union has its share of nominees for the "Darwin Awards."

It would be far too easy for me to take this opportunity to start ripping on Minnesota right now. After all, I've enjoyed my visits to the Twin Cities, but I could talk in length about the Vikings and their inability to fill that dump they call the Metrodome even during the playoffs. I could talk about their lame "3.2" beer or the even-more-ridiculous-than-Wisconsin accents.

And oh yeah, this is the state that elected Jesse "The Body" Ventura as governor.

But I think I'll refrain, since the most telling criticism about Minnesota is that we in Milwaukee just don't think about it at all. It's not on our radar, and we certainly don't need to devote any ink (digital or otherwise) to reporting on bizarre domestic abuse cases in the land of 10,000 lakes.

Oh, by the way, Wisconsin has more lakes than Minnesota. But I digress.

Anyway, citypages.com, your Web site is cluttered and ugly, but I hope this link to "What's Wrong with Wisconsin?" sends you some traffic and maybe a few talkbacks.

Now, I'll get back to ignoring Minnesota again. I'll check back in when you settle your mess of a Senate fight, whenever that might be.

Wow, that blog is terrible! Why focus on the negative happenings in Wisconsin????? Get a life, Minnesota! You're so boring you have to discuss the ridiculous stories from Wisco. Poor showing.

Both communities have pros and cons and I wouldn't "swim with the pigs" to address the City Pages story. In defense of Governor Body Ventura, he saw millions of dollars of federal transportation funds languishing and demonstrated incredible leadership by tapping those funds to quickly implement a light rail system, which has been so successful a major expansion is taking place to connect both downtowns via light rail. Wouldn't it be nice if we saw such leadership here on the transit issue? Yes, the Dome is an atrocity, but Twin Cities is modern and progressive in so many ways...and Milwaukee has the pieces in place to compete with that kind of success.

How about building a new, open-air baseball stadium?
