Note: The contents of this guide were checked for accuracy when this article was updated on Feb. 9, 2008 at 5:16 a.m. We continually update the thousands of articles on OnMilwaukee.com, but it's possible some details, specials and offers may have changed. As always, we recommend you call first if you have specific questions for the businesses mentioned in the guide.

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, bartender profiles, drink recipes and even a little Brew City bar history. Cheers!

We recently listed some fine wineries within an easy drive of Milwaukee. There are more in the state, slightly farther Beyond Milwaukee. Here are some that we've either visited or from which we've tasted wines:

Bayfield Winery
86565 County Rd. J, Bayfield
(715) 779-5404
bayfieldwinery.com
The Bayfield Winery is located high on the hills overlooking the waters of Lake Superior. Scott and Renate Hauser specialize in making traditional hard ciders, meads and country wines from primarily locally grown fruits and honey.

Brigadoon Winery
2170 Clifford Rd., Tripoli
(715) 564-2280
brigadoonwinery.com

This winery is located in an area largely populated by people of Finnish descent. It produces 17 different wines. This writer's favorite and their best seller is White Merlot.

Chateau St. Croix Winery
1998A State Rd. 87
St. Croix Falls
(715) 483-2556 or (866) 654-WINE
chateaustcroix.com

Chateau St. Croix Winery is a delicious taste of Europe. The 55-acre estate features a carriage house, stables, vineyards, formal gardens, picnic areas and a fishing pond and is open to the public year-round. Wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Red Zinfandel, Frontenac, Wild River Rosé, Port, Symphony, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Chateau Rouge and Thoroughbred Red.
