Sure, Halloween's coming up – but you know what's REALLY scary? Netflix's newly announced list of departures for the month of October, a bone-chilling bloodletting of beloved movies and television shows.

The horrors will begin even before October starts as "Parks and Rec" will make its long-feared bow from the Big Red Streaming Monolith on the last day of September. The good news is that it'll still be on streaming, just over at Peacock. The bad news is that you're probably going to have to get, and potentially pay for, a service called Peacock.

That's just the start of the terror, though, as Netflix will hemorrhage a ton of classics over the next month, including "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," "Spaceballs," "Sleepless in Seattle," "The NeverEnding Story," "The Naked Gun" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." At least in the case of that last one, we're getting the sequel, "When Nature Calls," I believe the only film in cinematic history to feature its main character exiting out off a rhino's, uh, backdoor. And speaking of horrifying imagery, if you're looking for some film frights this spooky season, you better watch "The Silence of the Lambs," "The Girl with All the Gifts" and "Sleepy Hollow" while you can as they'll all head off to the streaming afterlife on Halloween.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg, so better get to watching next month. Here's the full list of movies and TV shows leaving Netflix in October.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
