Join us on Saturday, July 23 for some lakeside munchies at the second annual OnMilwaukee Food Truck Fest. Choose from a menu of 20 trucks and enjoy the live DJ, games and entertainment. It's the biggest gathering of the best food on four wheels.

Each can be customized with your choice of cheese, black beans, plantains or salsa (garlic, avocado or hot).

This is no ordinary burger stop; but it's oh-so-Milwaukee thanks to New Baron's Brewing Cooperative beer infused into a variety of dishes. Take the Brew City Burger, for instance. It's topped with bacon and New Baron's "Witches Bit Witbier" cheese sauce.  You'll also find other delicious diversions like carnitas poutine and a Sonoran hot dog featuring an all beef frank wrapped with bacon and topped with cheese and guacamole on a toasted bun.

This Hot Box serves them up wood-fired on housemade dough, which is brushed with a mix of herbed butter and oil before being slathered with rustic tomato sauce,  covered in toppings and served with a piece of wood-fired garlic bread. Don't sleep on the smoked chicken drumsticks or wood-fired macaroni and cheese.

Get your taco fix at this Zocalo staple offering hand-pressed corn tortillas and mouthwatering fillings like pulled beef braised in adobo with ginger, chocolate and sesame seeds and al pastor pork with pineapple and avocado salsa. Be sure to try a torta; I'd recommend the chicken torta topped with bean puree, guacamole, chile morita mayo, cheese, mixed greens and lime vinaigrette.

Get your sandwich fix at this deli-inspired concept featuring inspired sandwiches and sides. You can't go wrong with the crowd favorite Lunch Box sandwich featuring griddled mortadella, sharp white cheddar, Dijon slaw, Zapp’s Voodoo Chips and Duke’s mayo. But eggplant fans will fall for the Veg & Co. featuring panko-crusted eggplant, house pomodoro sauce, fresh mozzarella, garlic confit and kalamata olives on a seeded roll.

Modern Maki

There's nothing like sushi in the summertime, and Modern Maki offers a fresh selection, from more traditional flavor combinations (think California roll, spicy tuna or veggie rolls like avocado, cucumber and sweet potato) to offerings like their Hot Flamin' sushi burrito with spicy tuna, spicy crab, eel, avocado, cucumber, and spicy hot flamin crunch. Be sure to grab a drink at the Zócalo Tavern, the design of which is inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s famous blue house.

Note: Ruby's Bagel's is temporarily closed due to a fire at their commercial kitchen. But be sure to pay them a visit when they return!  Be sure to order a rosemary sea salt bagel. They're delicious.
