It’s more important than ever to support our local restaurants. And there’s no better way to do so than making a commitment to patronize them throughout the year. To guide you on your journey, I’ve composed a list of 52 restaurants (one for each week of 2022) that should be on your Milwaukee restaurant bucket list. View the full list here.

If you have an appreciation for food from the Levantine region, there is a feast of dishes to be tried at Taqwa’s, which celebrates the fare from climes including Jordan and Palestine.

Stand-outs include signature entrees like dawalee (grape leaves stuffed with seasoned meat and rice) are served alongside roasted chicken with yogurt cucumber salad; along with daily specials like shoshbarak (beef dumplings) in yogurt sauce with rice.

Be sure to try the freshly baked manakish (Palestinian taboun bread topped with cheese and za'atar), and don’t leave without ordering something from the list of freshly baked sweets (both the maamoul and warbat are outstanding).

Both patio and indoor seating are available. Their food also transports exceptionally well by carry-out.

Recommended: manakish; dawalee (grape leaves); ever-changing daily specials
