Even though "lounge" is one of the quintessential categories in "best of bars" contests the world over, what exactly separates a lounge from a pub from a bar from a tavern? We didn't know, either, but we certainly couldn't disagree with our readers, who again picked Bryant's, 1579 S. 9 St., as their favorite.

We know we could spend many a night there, too, but just to be sporting, we picked Tonic Tavern as our editors' pick. Both are pretty great, actually.

Bryant's is hardly a new entry on Milwaukee's cocktail scene. Originally opened in 1938 (and sadly closed for a few years recently), this deliciously un-ironic lounge is classic Milwaukee.
