The Bucks' on-court run last season to claiming the NBA title was incredible – matched only by the scenes off the court in Deer District, with throngs of Bucks fans and Milwaukeeans cheering and celebrating an accomplishment many had never seen in their lifetime.
A year later, the Bucks are back in the playoffs to show the rest of the league how to do it – and so are the Deer District's postseason watch parties.
Starting with Game 1 against the Bulls on Sunday, Deer District will once again host its iconic watch parties outside Fiserv Forum throughout the Bucks' postseason run, for both home and away games. Tickets are still not required for the outdoor watch parties, which will open the gates two hours before tip-off and currently have an attendance limit of 11,000 fans in place. (Be sure to leave your purses and bags at home, too; only wallets smaller than 4”x6”x1” will be permitted.) And in case the capacity limit wasn't enough encouragement to arrive early, the first 2,500 attendees at each first-round watch party will receive "Bang a Banners" (what that is, I do not know) courtesy of Gruber Law Offices.
Food and beverage options will once again be available in the plaza area – including whiskey drinks and canned cocktails from the Jack Daniel's Airstream as well as tropical rum drinks from the Tanduay Tiki Hut in The Beer Garden. (For other food and beverage spots in the area, be sure to check out our Deer District dining guide and bar guide.)
There are a few notable changes and alterations coming for the ballyhooed Bucks hangout this postseason. The main big screen this time will be placed on the south end of the Deer District plaza – aka the end closer to Drink Wisconsinbly – which is also the side where watch party attendees will enter at the Highland Avenue/Vel R. Phillips Avenue intersection. Fans with tickets for the game inside Fiserv Forum should then enter the area on the north side of Deer District.
The watch parties will also involve the brand new Deer District All-Access VIP membership, offering those chosen few a VIP area close to the watch party stage, deals from other participating Deer District venues and more. The membership is currently limited to invitation only, with the team giving away NFT VIP passes earlier this week, but interested fans can get on the waiting list at Deer District's website.
For more information on the watch parties, visit Deer District's website. And as for what's happening inside Fiserv Forum, the Bucks will tip-off their title defense against the Chicago Bulls at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
