The Corner is literally rounding a new bend with fresh ownership and a complete remodel. Jason Growel purchased the Water Street space early summer, renamed it Water's End, and ordered a complete overhaul of the interior style and typical patron of The Corner.

Although it was once thought of as a young college bar, Growel intends to attract a slightly older crowd by redefining the assumed Water Street stereotype with a hip and trendy interior and '80s and '90s music.

"You'll come in and see that the space is completely different. We've moved the bar to the other side of the wall and it's a far cry from what The Corner used to be," Growel says.

Water's End re-opened mid-August with plans for further expansion in the next six months. Currently, the bar carries a full liquor selection and bottled beer and beverages.

In the next few months, Growel plans to add several tap beers as well as a bar fare food menu. Growel also anticipates remodeling the basement to balance the first level bar with a low-key lounge.
