It's hard to find a neighborhood in Milwaukee that's reinvented itself as quickly as Bay View. While long-time residents will tell you that the nightlife has never been lacking with mainstays like The White House, Frank's Power Plant and the Cactus Club, newcomers like Café Centraal, Bay View Brew Haus and Tonic Tavern have further cemented the area as our readers' choice for best bar district -- and we agree.

There are almost too many great bars in Bay View to list them all, but whether your taste ranges from hipster (Blackbird) to blue collar (Newport), bowling (Bay View Bowl) to tiki drinks (At Random), or soccer (Highbury) to corner tavern (Club Garibaldi), you'd have to split a comprehensive area bar crawl into many, many nights.

For our money, we pretty much love 'em all: Sugar Maple, Bar Lulu, Palomino, Palm Tavern and Burnhearts, to name just a few.

Though some of the old-timers would disagree, by and large, the vibe in Bay View is just a little less pretentious and bit more down to earth than on the "other" East Side.

But Bay View isn't a secret anymore, either, and it's finally true: build a great bar, and they'll come over the Hoan Bridge to find it.
