"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee is back for another round, brought to you by Great Northern Distilling: grain to glass spirits, handmade in Wisconsin. The whole month of March, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews, the results of our Best of Bars readers poll and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

Sometimes you want to dance in the open spaces; other times you'd prefer to take a seat and enjoy a beer while listening to some of the best local acts in the city. And that's likely the reason why you've chosen Milwaukee Ale House – for the fourth year running – as your favorite bar for live music.

Milwaukee Ale House, located at 233 N. Water St., keeps its stage full – and it offers up plenty of variety to boot. In fact, the historic, six-story Saddlery building in which the Ale House is located has been one of the liveliest beacons on Water Street for many years running.

Of course, judging by your runner up pick, it's apparent that you're all a little bit country, but also a little bit rock 'n roll. After all, you chose another Water Street destination – the rock and country fusion venue Red Rock Saloon – as your second pick.

For our editors' pick, we selected the Cactus Club, a location that has served as one of the finest live music venues in Milwaukee for nearly 20 years. We love its laid back corner bar feel, and so do loads of local and national acts, including singer/songwriter Brett Newski, who played there just a few short weeks ago.
