"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee is back for another round, brought to you by Great Northern Distilling: grain to glass spirits, handmade in Wisconsin. The whole month of March, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews, the results of our Best of Bars readers poll and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

Over the years, this category has seen many variations – best patio, best patio/outdoor seating, best patio/view – but since 2010, it's really only seen one winner: Barnacle Bud's. And 2016 is no different, with the scenic day drinking hotspot once again coming away with the title of Milwaukee's first place patio.

Barnacle Bud's pulled well away from the rest of its patio/view competition in this year's readers vote, and it's not hard to see why. Located at 1955 S. Hilbert St., the Bay View venue (which also won the title of best bar for day drinking earlier this Bar Month) is something special, tucked away like no other bar in Milwaukee – so much so it's pretty much easier to reach by boat than by car.

Although there's a quaint beach shanty with a bar and a dozen tables, the outdoor deck is the place to be if the weather's smooth sailing. There, boats of all kinds dock and undock, while diners and drinkers talk, joke, smoke and lazily lick barbecue sauce off their fingertips. Its patio is the perfect venue for an evening of drinks on a warm summer night. Add in live music, an oyster bar and a killer Bloody Mary, and it's no wonder Barnacle Bud's was your choice for Milwaukee's best patio.

Wolf Peach came in a respectable second place, while Cafe Benelux – the OnMilwaukee editors' pick – Estabrook Park Beer Garden and Milwaukee Ale House rounded out the rest of the top five.
