Back in January, we told you about the relaunch of the Pabst Brewery and Taproom, 1037 W. Juneau Ave., as the rebranded Captain Pabst Pilot House.

To commemorate the Captain’s 184th birthday, the official renaming will take place on Saturday, March 28 with a day-long Grand Opening event.

In January, Pabst also launched the first in a series of Captain-branded beers.

The "Captain’s Day" kicks off with a yoga session with MKE Yoga Social at 9:30 a.m. and then doors open to the general public at 11 a.m.

In addition to free brewery tours all day, there will be free caricatures, live music, the chance to have yourself captured in a tintype photo photographer Margaret Muza and a special offers on the new Seabird IPA.

"In addition to having the ability to taste many of the heritage beers that built the Pabst legacy, including the ever-popular Andeker lager, attendees will have the chance to sample our first IPA, aptly named ‘Captain Pabst Seabird IPA’ for just $2 all day," said General Manager Adam Powers.

"Captain Frederick Pabst was quite a character; his life was filled with seemingly random endeavors that stemmed from his adventurous spirit and his willingness to push the boundaries. The Captain was always looking to do things right, but differently."
