For the 25th year now, Milwaukee County Transit System has teamed with Miller Lite to offer free rides on St. Patrick’s Day. That life-saving and convenient service returns on Saturday, March 17 from 6 p.m. until the end of regular bus service.

A few months ago, a similar New Year’s Eve free rides program notched its 30th year.

"MCTS is once again offering safe, convenient and free transportation on St. Patrick’s Day," said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele in a statement. "People can choose to leave the keys at home and count on Miller Lite Free Rides to get them and their friends around safely while celebrating the holiday."

This year, MCTS and Lite are joined by Beer Capitol Distributing in sponsoring the free rides program, which has served nearly 820,000 people over its two and a half decades. Miller is offering the same deal in the Twin Cities this year, too.

"When people make Miller Time a part of their St. Patrick’s Day celebration, we hope they plan ahead for a safe ride home with Miller Lite Free Rides," said Diane Wagner, alcohol responsibility manager for Miller Brewing.

"We’re proud to partner again with Miller Lite and MCTS on this longstanding St. Patrick’s Day tradition in Milwaukee," added Beer Capitol Distributing CEO Dave Neville. "We want people to have a great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day but do so responsibly. Miller Lite Free Rides is an easy and safe alternative to driving."
