After 14 years in business at two different locations, The Monkey Bar, 1619 S. 1st St., will sling its final drink on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The Monkey Bar opened in 2001 at 1517 S. 2nd St. and moved to its current location in 2008. The building was recently sold to a new owner.

Owner Diane Dowland wrote this on Facebook, "... Thank you to everyone who has supported us and been good friends. I'm excited to figure out what the next chapter in my life will be."

Molly Snyder started writing and publishing her work at the age 10, when her community newspaper printed her poem, "The Unicorn.” Since then, she's expanded beyond the subject of mythical creatures and written in many different mediums but, nearest and dearest to her heart, thousands of articles for OnMilwaukee.
