John Crone and Joe D’Acquisto officially met at a bartending job, but had known of each other – in typical "Smallwaukee" fashion – for awhile before that. Once the two started conversing, it was clear they shared similar interests and goals.

"I felt kind of weird, like I was asking out a girl, but after five minutes of working together, I said, ‘You wanna go get a drink?’" says Crone.

After their shift, the two went to My Office and had a couple of cocktails. "We’ve been best friends ever since," says Crone.

The two men also became business partners last year when they started Over The Moon Bartending, a mobile bartending service available for any type of event, including weddings, dinners, birthdays, life celebrations, costume parties, golf gatherings and corporate events.

"We can handle 10-500 people – absolutely any event where people need bartenders and a bar service that will make their lives easier," says Crone. "We’re an extremely convenient bar service."

Over The Moon offers full bar service for which the clients select exactly what they want to offer their guests. Crone and D’Acquisto also serve as beverage consultants to help clients pair beer, wine and spirits with their food and stay within their budgets.

"We can bring everything except the booze," says Crone. "This is in the clients’ best interest because we don’t try to oversell to them or jack up the prices on bottles. We can estimate exactly how many bottles they should buy and give them suggestions of affordable places to buy alcohol."

Over The Moon also offers a "custom cocktails" service allowing clients to highlight a special drink on top of the usual bar options.

"The client is able to choose or make up a drink, and we will nicely write it on a board that we bring with us to events," says D’Acquisto. "It can be as simple as a Moscow Mule or a particular shot, or they can request a completely customized drink with a certain flavor and color to match the theme or name that they come up with."

According to D’Acquisto, "his and her" drinks are popular at weddings. Recently, a bride named Katie chose to offer "Katie’s Cosmo" and the groom, who was named Zach and liked Jack and Cokes, aptly named his drink "The Zach and Coke."

"We also made a Greek mojito for Easter that was really good," says D’Acquisto.

The business also offers glassware rental and can provide everything needed for bar service from straws to napkins to garnishes and bar mats. "When planning an event, sometimes small details get overlooked, and that's where we also make a difference," says D’Acquisto. "No one wants to have to run out for a bag of oranges before their big event."

Over The Moon has multiple collapsible bars that are easy to move around and set up. The traveling bars can be configured in different shapes to accommodate any venue. "We can set up in 10 to 15 minutes and present a very sturdy bar that looks really good," says Crone.

Both Crone and D’Acquisto are surprised by how quickly their business picked up, and they give a lot of props to their friends and family.

"We seriously could not have done it without them," says D’Acquisto.

It’s been a busy summer for Over The Moon, and with corporate events and holiday parties already on the horizon, the guys are certain they found the right niche for themselves.

"We really love what we do," says Crone. "It’s great to find the right job in the right city."
