Since 1984, a West Allis neighborhood has transformed into a Christmas wonderland called Candy Cane Lane to delight the city as well as to raise money for the MACC Fund. And as of this year, a West Allis brewery whipped up a new peppermint stout in honor of the annual fundraiser called, aptly, Candy Cane Lane.

Westallion Brewing Company announced via Facebook today that starting Friday, Nov. 23 (the day after Thanksgiving) this celebratory stout and neighborhood tribute will be available in bottles and on tap at the brewery, 1825 S. 72nd St.

The stout beer features chocolate malt, oats, locally grown mint from its neighbor’s garden and actual crushed-up candy canes.

"We also boosted the ABV a bit to help keep you warm for those brisk evening strolls through Candy Cane Lane," says Westallion co-owner Erik Dorfner, who grew up in the Candy Cane Lane neighborhood. "The beer was nearly as fun to make as Candy Cane Lane is to visit!"

Candy Cane Lane peppermint stout is one of three craft beers that Westallion will release for the holiday season. A Christmas Carol brown ale and an eggnog white stout are also in the works.

Erik and Kim Dorfner opened West Allis' first micro-brewery in 2017.
