The Westallion Citywide Pub Stampede rides into town Aug. 20 from noon to 6 p.m.

Free Westallion Citywide Pub Stampede is this Sunday in 'Stallis

Pub crawls are great fun and have become increasingly popular and prevalent in Milwaukee. But sometimes, you just want to bop around town with friends, trying new places and enjoying drink specials, without having to register in advance, pay $20 for a ticket, pick up a T-shirt and be confined to the same old Downtown or East Side places. (We still love you, Shamrock Shuffle.)

Well, because of course it does, West Allis has the answer.

The Westallion Brewing Company has organized the first annual Citywide Pub Stampede, taking place Aug. 20 and showcasing "what West Allis drinking has to offer." From noon to 6 p.m. this Sunday, all are welcome to join in the bar crawl, for free, at any of the participating locations.

There is no designated start or stop point, no cost to partake (OK, yes, the drinks cost money) and shuttle busses will be running nonstop between the bars. Simply arrive at a bar, get a map showing bus routes and participating bars and stampede your way through the city – though perhaps think of a less belligerent-sounding verb when ordering drinks and interacting with the businesses.

Westallion, which opened in April at 1825 S. 72nd St. and is West Allis' first brewery, will offer its beers for $3 per pint at each of the establishments. Read about the owners' excitement to be part of the city's "resurgence" here.

The following pubs are participating in Sunday's Stampede: The Drunk Uncle, Liquid Johnny's, Natty Oaks, Lynch's, 4th Base, Brass Monkey, Alibi, Dickens, Johnny Hammers, The Crimson Club, Lucky Chance, Slurp N Burp, Tomkens, 4th and Long, The Network, The Choice, Jimmy B's, W.A.C. West Allis and Westallion Tap Room.
