Milhaus, an award-winning developer that specializes in Class A urban infill, mixed-use and multifamily residential buildings, announces it has broken ground on two ground-up buildings at the former Pabst Brewery complex which are projected to open in 2018. The 274-unit Vim and Vigor apartments will include 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space at the corner of Juneau and 10th Street. (NOTE: Across 10th Street from The Brewhouse Inn & Suites Hotel, on what is currently an empty lot.)

Working in conjunction with local Milwaukee-based real estate developer WiRED Properties, the Vim and Vigor community is being developed on two separate lots, about a block apart from one another at The Brewery, the mixed-use development that revitalized the former Pabst complex.

Following Pabst Brewing Company‘s closure of its Milwaukee facility in 1996, the complex was acquired in 2006 by a developer and philanthropist who spurred a monumental redevelopment of the neighborhood. This area, once vacant for nearly a decade, when complete will include a hotel, brewery and micro-brewery, office space, residential and educational spaces. Vim and Vigor will revitalize two of the final redevelopment parcels in this historic neighborhood.

"The name Vim and Vigor, signifying energy and strength, truly encapsulates the overall revitalization of The Brewery and the surrounding neighborhood, wherein the former Pabst complex has been transformed into a unique and active residential, retail and business district," said Jake Dietrich, director of development at Milhaus.

"With the creation of Vim and Vigor, Milhaus will continue to bring energy to this downtown Milwaukee neighborhood, filling in the final puzzle piece with a vibrant project."

Vim and Vigor is Milhaus’ second project in the Milwaukee market. Alongside local partner WiRED Properties, the company is developing the Stitchweld apartments in the Bay View neighborhood. Stitchweld consists of four buildings totaling 291 units, that opened its first building in April 2017.

Continuing to expand its footprint beyond Indianapolis, Milhaus is pursuing strategic growth opportunities in new and existing markets across the U.S. to reach its goal of having 20,000 units in 10 markets by 2020. Milhaus currently has projects under development in Cincinnati, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Tampa, Florida.
