Nitz Hardware, a venerable store located at 13800 W. North Ave. in Brookfield, will be closed on Tuesday.

Soon, it may be closed for good.

According to a flier distributed to area residents, the store, which has been operating on the site since 1953, will be closing soon. The "qutting business" sale will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The flier indicates that the store will be "sellling to the bare walls," with discounts up to 50% on select items.

There is no word what will happen to the property. Operators of the store, which has roughly 50 employees, could not be reached for comment on Monday night.
