Earlier this week, VISIT Milwaukee had four writers in town from Chicago to experience Milwaukee including the Harley-Davidson Museum, local restaurants and Summerfest.

The four writers arrived on Tuesday night and stayed through Thursday morning. The writers ranged from newspaper and magazine writers to bloggers. During their visit, they went for a small-plate tasting at Sanford, the "American Road" exhibit at the Harley-Davdison Museum, a brewery tour, the Lady Gaga concert at Summerfest and more.

VISIT Milwaukee has hosted press trips in the past, with the primary objective being to show writers from out of town many of the attractions and experiences Milwaukee has to offer.

The department works to create itineraries for journalists that specifically target the journalists interests and niche markets, with the hopes of potential press coverage in key drive-in cities, such as Chicago.

"These press trips are the perfect opportunity for local Milwaukee businesses to showcase their strengths to regional media," says Katy Deardoff, communications manager for Visit Milwaukee.
