The Bartolotta Restaurants have chosen Milwaukee’s Urban Ecology Center as their 2015 Care-a-lotta Spot-On Campaign partner. The restaurant group will spend the next six months helping the Urban Ecology Center raise awareness of its mission as well as funds and friends in a variety of ways.

Throughout the month of March, each Bartolotta restaurant is featuring on its menu a special drink as well as a special appetizer or dessert named in honor of the Urban Ecology Center, and a portion of the proceeds from these items will be donated to the organization.

This summer, Urban Ecology Center will have the opportunity to have a season-long presence at Northpoint, Bartolotta’s lakefront custard and burger stand. Previous years have seen beds put on the roof to raise awareness for Pathfinders, an organization that serves homeless teens, as well as raised-bed gardens around the stand to draw attention to Victory Garden Initiative, an organization that builds communities that grow their own food and plants gardens each year all around the metro area. Plans are currently underway for Urban Ecology Center’s presence at Northpoint.

Finally, the Care-a-lotta board and Urban Ecology Center will work together to create a 5k run/walk in the fall that will be held at one of Urban Ecology Center’s three beautiful locations and whose proceeds will benefit the organization.

More details about the run/walk will be available in the coming months. To see the full lineup of drinks and first courses available throughout Bartolotta’s restaurants in March, please visit bartolottas.com/events/march-specials-to-benefit-the-urban-ecology-center.

Care-a-lotta is the charitable arm of The Bartolotta Restaurants, and its mission is to support local nonprofit organizations and create platforms for awareness to help make Milwaukee a strong, vital community in which to live and work. Care-a-lotta provides support in the community in three ways:

  • Care-a-lotta Credit: The Bartolotta Restaurants provides a donation equal to 10 or 15 percent of food and beverage cost for any 501(c)(3) organization that hosts a special event in any of the restaurants or catering facilities. The organization is also awarded four $25 gift certificates to use at their discretion.
  • Care-a-lotta Community: Each month, The Bartolotta Restaurants donates a $100 gift certificate to 40 organizations and local groups for their silent auctions, benefits, events and more via a lottery system. Organizations are asked to apply online at least two months before their event and are placed in the lottery the month prior to their event date.
  • Project Spot-On: Each year, Bartolotta’s chooses one local nonprofit organization as its Spot-on partner and offers its resources to shine a spotlight on and raise awareness, friends, volunteers and funds for the organization and its mission throughout the year. The key element of the partnership is the opportunity to utilize Northpoint Custard on Milwaukee’s lakefront to build awareness of the organization’s mission in a variety of creative ways. The partnership is intended to be collaborative, and Bartolotta’s supports the nonprofit throughout its various channels all year long.
