If you haven't heard yet, Chick-fil-A is finally coming to the Milwaukee Metro area. Two new free-standing locations will mark the company's re-launch into town at 126th and Capitol in Brookfield and the other on 76th Street near Southridge Mall.
I love Chick-fil-A chicken as well as its hand-spun peach shake when it is in season – and the waffle fries, well, let's just say I am a fan. Year after year of road-trips south to my grandmother's in North Carolina made Chick-fil-A a routine pit-stop for me.
I'd always stop at the one in Lafayette, Ind., after you get past all the windmills. If you've ever driven this stretch, you know where I am talking about – you're either past the chaos of Chicago, or about to head into it.
Chick-fil-A is a bit of quandary for me. I'm excited the restaurants are finally going to be close to home – it's a huge comfort-food and a bit nostalgic for me. Plus, the finger-lickin' chicken strips are addictive.
But, I don't agree with the president's politics (yes, I realize it is the owner's stance and not necessarily the employees') that became public in 2012. Stopping there or not wasn't an issue for me in recent years as my grandmother has since moved back to Wisconsin. I don't want to support the stance company president and COO Dan Cathy took on equal rights or same-sex marriage (though it is his right to have that opinion) and feel like I am supporting his views by eating there.
Am I delusional by telling myself I am supporting the workers who earn a wage at Chick-fil-A (especially the 80-plus jobs per store that will come to Milwaukee metro with these openings) instead of the family who owns Chick-fil-A itself? Probably.
I'll have to decide soon which direction I will go. But, I know I may have a hard time not getting some of that chicken once it is close by, so I best make my mind up soon.
Decisions, decisions.

She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.
All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
