Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted! See all the winners for the month so far here.

Fein Brothers – sponsor of OnMilwaukee Dining Month – is having a huge inventory reduction sale this week, from Thursday to Saturday, Oct. 19-21. Since there are just 66 days until Christmas – but who’s counting, right? – I was tasked with stopping in to make a little kitchen wish list.

The store – in a historic former Schuster's location at 2007 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. – has a variety of items on sale, including new and used restaurant equipment, cookware, glassware, china and furniture.

The first 25 customers in the door each day of the sale get a 10 percent coupon to use that day and all customers will get a free reusable Fein Brothers tote with every purchase.

Here’s what we liked, in the realm of reality:

1. Mercer santoku knife

Every cook, whether in a commercial or home kitchen, needs a few quality knives and the fully-forged santoku knife by Mercer pictured in the foreground is a deal at $25 (originally $45). I use my small and large santoku knives for nearly everything when I cook. There are other Mercer knives on sale, too, starting at $13.

2. Full-size sheet pans

Like trusty knives, sheet pans are a cook's bread and butter. A selection of sheet pans that normally sell for $8.95 and up are on sale starting at $4.95.

3. Bar shaker

A shaker is a bar essential and these handsome and inexpensive Table Craft copper-clad ones are $2.90. They normally sell for $5.

4. Anchor Barbary beer taster glasses

Enjoy shorties in your own home with these stylish little five-ounce beer tasters, on sale for $19.75 a dozen, down from $26.64.

And, someday, in a dream world, our kitchen will have:

5. Star fryer

Damn, you know you want one of these two-basket, 15-pound capacity fryers, too. Fish in one side, Mars bars in the other. It was $1,011.56, but you can nab it at the sale for $800.

6. Frigo drink beverage dispenser

Sure, you could put juice in this Arctic Delux Twin, but you could also fill the five-gallon tanks with adult slushies. The regular price is $1,378.24 but this week it's $1,168.

7. Star popcorn maker

Turn down the lights, fire up the big screen and pop yourself some theater-grade popcorn in this baby, which is on sale for $624 (originally $885).

8. Saturn slicer

Set this 12-inch, professional meat slicer to paper-thin and I'll make a prosciutto panino every day for lunch. On sale for $325, down from $590.
