Jow Nai Fouquet, the East Side restaurant specializing in fare from southern Thailand, announced that it will be closing its doors sometime this September.

Owner Aomjai Nueakaew opened the restaurant at 1978 N. Farwell Ave. in 2011, bringing notable changes to the tiny restaurant that was home to Abu's Middle Eastern restaurant for decades.

Nueakaew announced the news yesterday in a post on Facebook.

Nueakaew also responded to numerous comments on the Facebook thread with hopeful remarks indicating that she plans to open again in a new location.

"It is sad to close the business," she says. "I just need a break and I will try to open again in the future."

For the time being, you can still get get your fill of Thai noodle dishes, curries and stir fries at the Farwell location throughout the month of August.

Jow Nai Fouquet is open Thursday through Sunday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Takeout hours are Thursday 5:30 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:30 to 11 p.m. and Sunday 5:30 to 10 p.m.
