April showers bring May flowers … and, in this case, an opportunity to explore the fascinating world of craft beer and cocktails.

Libations of Spring is a brand new event that will take place April 13-14 at Destination Kohler. The event will bring together Kohler chefs with beverage professionals from across the country for a celebration of the intersections between food and drink.

The weekend kicks off with "Four Chefs, Four Beers, Four Courses," a four-course beer dinner on Friday evening at The American Club featuring four beers from Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps Brewing Company ($89 per person).

It continues with a slew of seminars and tastings including:

  • What’s On Tap? An Intro to Beer Styles Seminar: The craft beer boom has driven a resurgence of a variety of beer styles. Taste and discover the joy of finding the styles you love with Certified Beer Server Peter Moeller of Horse & Plow. April 14 at 11 a.m. in The Horse & Plow; $39 per person.
  • Mix It Up: Making Craft Cocktails at Home: Destination Kohler mixologist Peter Kalleward will show guests the secrets to creating popular cocktails at home. April 14 at 11:30 a.m. in the Winery Bar; $39 per person.
  • Flavor Detectives Tasting: It's said that only 5 percent of the world’s population has the natural ability to distinguish the subtle differences and flavors found in most food. These folks can distinguish between good and bad combinations easily. In this unique tasting, Executive Chef Matt Bauer of The American Club will walk guests through the different flavor profiles of spirits and cocktails as they taste them with different foods and learn what combinations make for a successful pairing. April 14 at 1:30 p.m. in The Appley Theater; $45 per person.
  • The Spirit of Flavor Infusion: In this interactive seminar, Dan Dufek, Beverage Development Specialist with BreakThru Beverage will teach guests how to mix different spirits to create unique, custom-flavored cocktails. Guests will receive an infused bottle home for future enjoyment. April 14 at 4 p.m. in the Appley Theater; $45 per person.
  • Craft Beer Social Beer Tasting: Chat with the brewers at this sampling event featuring a variety of unique, rare and seasonal craft beer paired with creative dishes. April 14 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Kohler Design Center; $89 per person.

You can also choose to explore craft brews in Kohler at your own speed with the Passport to Beer, a roving at-your-own-pace adventure during which you can enjoy craft brews at six different locations. Collect all six passport stamps and you can redeem them for a mixed six-pack of the beers you tasted. Passports are $30 each.
