Milwaukee Cupcake Company, which opened in 2010 at 316 N. Milwaukee St., will close on Friday, May 23.

A post on Facebook reads, "We regret to inform you that due to a variety of circumstances, Milwaukee Cupcake Company will be winding down its operations this year. The last day that our retail counter will be open is Friday, May 23."

The company promises to finish the remainder of the weddings it has booked this summer, but will not accept any additional weddings or catering orders beyond May 23.

"This has been a very difficult decision for us to make. We would like to thank all of you who have been faithful customers to us these past years. It was for you that we started this venture, and it has been our pleasure to serve you during this time."
