It’s been eight years since the Osthoff Resort, 101 Osthoff Ave. in Elkhart Lake, made a commitment to contributing to the growing farm-to-table movement. At that time, the resort invested in planting a small garden on the property, which was tended using all organic methods.

It’s now 2016, and the Osthoff’s garden has grown to encompass nearly two-acres with a produce yield that is expected to exceed 20,000 pounds in weight.

Resort restaurants including Lola’s on the Lake, Otto’s, and The Elkhart Inn are now using the produce on a daily basis.

And guests can utilize the fresh ingredients in hands-on classes at the Osthoff in-house French cooking school, L’ecole de la Maison.

Upcoming classes at the resort include Mediterranean small plates (Sept. 23), European brunch (Oct. 14) and Thanksgiving Dinner (Nov. 12).

Beginning in 2017, the resort also has plans to host an outdoor farm-to-table dinner series, as well as special cooking school classes, tasting events and wine pairings.
