Purple Door Ice Cream is looking for the next new flavor to add to its deliciously diverse lineup of oh-so-lickable desserts, and once again, it will need your help.

It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.

The creative local creamery will host its 2017 flavor contest on Sunday, June 11 at its Walker's Point HQ, 205 S. 2nd St., from noon until 3 p.m., with patrons able to sample the 12 customer-suggested flavors – from the scrumptious to the surreal – that made it to the finals out of more than 250 originally submitted ideas. There, you'll put your taste buds to the test and vote on the finest of the fresh new flavors.

Past contests have turned out winning concoctions like 2015's Espresso Bourbon Chocolate Chip, while even runners-up Honey & Black Pepper and Pecan Kringle have popped up on the menu. So even the losers are winners – which means the real winners are you, the judges.

This year's flavor candidates are still under wraps, but maybe some of the our own personal dream custard flavors got turned into delicious ice cream reality.

Tickets for the flavor contest – complete with 12 tasting tickets and one voting ballot – are currently on sale, both in person at Purple Door or online at the creamery's website, for $10, while day-of tickets will cost $12. Additional sample tickets cost $1 each.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
