The coronavirus pandemic has changed our everyday life, but it doesn't need to change who we are. So, in addition to our ongoing coverage of the coronavirus, OnMilwaukee will continue to report on cool, fun, inspiring and strange stories from our city and beyond. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed and stay joyful. We're all in this together. #InThisTogetherMKE

Riverwest Public House, the cooperative bar and gathering place at 815 E. Locust St., has turned their focus to assisting the community through a pop-up food pantry.

"As we are currently unable to operate as a bar, we have been thinking of ways to remain connected to our beloved community," noted a Facebook post on the initiative, which builds on one of the primary principles of the cooperative model: concern for community.

The pop-up food pantry will operate in front of the Riverwest Public House on Sundays and Mondays from noon to 6 p.m., offering donated provisions – including bread, dairy products, produce and select other items – for community members in need.

Community members who would like to donate items to the pantry should send a direct message to Riverwest Public House on Facebook.
