Downtown Taste & Toast, the ultimate happy hour, is coming
Get your chompers and sippers ready. It's time for the second annual Taste & Toast, a happy hour extravaganza celebrating some of Milwaukee's best Downtown spots.
From Feb. 29 through March 4, diners can enjoy specially priced small plates, appetizers and libations (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) from 4 to 7 p.m. at 30 Downtown restaurants, including Bacchus, Coquette Cafe, Distil, Harbor House, Kanpai, Karma Bar & Grill, Rumpus Room, The Knick, Monarch Lounge, Miller Time Pub & Grill and more.

Some to try:
The newly re-concepted Pier 106 Seafood Tavern will be serving up housemade salmon cakes with creamed corn (two for $10). And they would be oh-so-good paired up with a pineapple martini ($5) or raspberry lemonade ($2.50).
Or try the crab flautas ($6.50) at The Brown Bottle featuring crab, black beans and roasted corn rolled up in a corn tortilla and lightly fried. Pair them up with a $5 Moscow mule or $4 strawberry lemonade.
Feeling classic? Get yourself a classic Big Boy burger ($7) with a maple plum daiquiri featuring Roaring Dan's maple-flavored rum with a dash of plum bitters ($6) at Clear in the Intercontinental Hotel. There's also a cucumber feaux-hito for $6, if NA is more your style.
Housemade gnocchi at Swig is never a bad idea. Try it for $4 alongside a $5 premium wine pour or $3 pineapple spritzer.
Maybe you'd prefer the duck nachos at Plum Lounge? This delicious plate comes loaded with duck confit, shallot, charred jalapeño cream, roasted red pepper sauce, queso fresco and Big City Greens micro cilantro for $10. Pair it with The Uptown ($7) featuring Maker's Mark Bourbon, Carpano Antica and bourbon bitters with a sugared cherry.

This year, Milwaukee Downtown will also award $325 in dining gift certificates to two lucky winners. To enter, just visit one or more of the participating restaurants during Taste & Toast and complete the Taste & Toast survey. At the conclusion of the event, a random drawing will select the winners.
Last year's Taste & Toast attracted over 8,000 diners, with over 90 percent rating both the food service and environment as either excellent or good.
Taste & Toast is a prelude to Downtown Dining Week 2016, which takes place June 2-9.
