Thai Lotus, a restaurant which has served up Thai and Laos cuisine in Silver City for over ten years, is slated to open a second location at 1000 E. Locust St. in the former home of Tuk’s Thai Kitchen.

Co-owner Raphael Sivongsa says they are just waiting for final approval from city inspectors, and he hopes for an April 1 opening date.

Sivongsa, who does side work as a contractor, says he grew familiar with the Riverwest neighborhood through work on a variety of homes in the area.

"My wife loves cooking," he says. "And we’ve been looking for a second location for quite a while. And Riverwest is the place."

Sivonga’s nephew, Sayasith Chanhdara, will be partner at the new location, which will offer the same menu as the original Thai Lotus

According to Sivongsa, hours for Thai Lotus in Riverwest will be 4:30 to 11 p.m.
