After almost six months of waiting, Zaafaran is finally ready to open at 780 N. Jefferson St.

The Downtown Indian and Thai restaurant will hold a grand opening event Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. to welcome the public.

The free event will feature hand-passed canapés and specialty drink samples from the menu. Live music will be performed by DJ Kid Cut Up and henna artists will be on-hand to apply traditional Indian temporary tattoos.

Zaafaran was originally set to open at the beginning of this year with a New Year's Eve celebration, but plans were delayed due to construction setbacks.

Zaafaran is owned by Asia's Royal Orchid Resorts and is the first of owner Manoj Tiwari’s restaurants in the country.

Zaafaran will open daily at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
