"Celsius 232" is an original physical theater adaptation inspired by Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" performed at the North Milwaukee Arthaus, a historic former Milwaukee fire station, 5151 N. 35th St.

The show is a collaboration between Quasimondo Physical Theatre and Cooperative Performance and described as "a wickedly comic interpretation featuring movement, poetry, puppetry, and a precinct of feverish clowns."

Celsius 232 runs from Friday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 15 at the North Milwaukee Arthaus. Tickets are $17 in advance or $20 at the door. Free street parking is available.

In this adaptation, Guy Montag is a public servant in a post-truth world who has it all – almost. A loving family, a luxury condo, and a fulfilling job with Squadron 232, he is committed to protecting the public from society's most sinister of threats: books. When a string of chance encounters ignites a trail of questioning, this humble firefighter must embark down a dangerous path to discover what's missing: truth.

Recently, Quasimondo purchased the building with the intention of converting it into the North Milwaukee Arthaus: an arts/education hub and community resource.

The building was nominated as a county landmark but its designation has been pushed to next year.

"What better place to perform an adaptation of "Fahrenheit 451" than the future home of a cultural and educational resource which also happens to be an old firehouse?" Says Don Russell, chair of Cooperative Performance's Board of Directors.

The theme of the show is particularly timely according to Russell.

"I can easily see this trend happening in our own world," says Russell. "It is important to evaluate one’s own world in order to become more informed and active citizens when making personal choices in the world. Also, by supporting live performance and the arts, we are supporting our communities in very tangible ways."
