The new Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) building in West Bend is currently being highlighted as the "Building of the Week" by American-Architects.com. The feature, posted this past Monday, is a part of the website's "2013 50x50 - 50 States in 50 Weeks" series.

For the past 48 weeks, American Architects has gone through each state alphabetically and selected one architecturally intriguing building from each to highlight. In the case of Wisconsin, the website selected the MOWA building and its architects, HGA Architects and Engineers, to profile and interview.

The new MOWA building, designed by HGA's Jim Shields, opened to the public earlier this year in April. The two-level museum is designed with a contemporary modern style and a triangular shape adapted from its site.

It is the primary venue for the display of historic and contemporary Wisconsin art, with holdings of more than 300 artists and 3,000 works of art.

The MOWA was originally established as the West Bend Gallery of Fine Arts back in 1961.
