PopSugar, a giant global media / technology company and lifestyle publisher, produced a list of "13 Female Travel Bloggers of Color You Should Be Following in 2018" and Milwaukee’s Sojourner White made the cut.

White’s blog, sojournies.com, describes her as a "traveling chocoholic enjoying life with a glass of wine, plate of food and her camera nearby." She documented her adventures while studying – and later working – in Spain and continues to write about her travels to many other countries including Portugal, Italy, Morocco, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Czech Republic, England and Belgium.

"I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures through eating local cuisine and then sharing my experiences with others," says White.

Writing has been one of White’s passions since she was in high school.

"My mom always told me to keep a journal and I never understood why until high school and writing became an important outlet for me," she says. "I’m grateful now that my mom encouraged me to write so young because I have journals going back to third grade."

White’s mother is Venice Wlliams, the executive director of Alice’s Garden Urban Farm.

White, who grew up on Milwaukee’s North Side, graduated from Rufus King High School in 2012. She graduated from Bradley University in Peoria in 2016 with a degree in Spanish, Psychology and Women’s Studies. She is currently working for Public Allies, an AmeriCorps program, with the Girl Scouts at two of her alma maters: Elm Creative and Roosevelt Middle School.

"I’m grateful for so many experiences I've had in my life and I look forward to traveling more in the near future," says White. "I really, really want to go to Cuba."
