In its second concert of the summer, the Danceworks DanceLAB will showcase Danceworks’ resident tap company, Danceworks on Tap, in "TAPtivating," Aug. 12-13, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Danceworks Studio Theatre.

Danceworks on Tap is a collection of dancers founded in 2000 by Danceworks Director of Education Amy Brinkman-Sustache, along with Patrick Kendall.

In "TAPtivating," welcomes both new and returning guest artists back to Danceworks on Tap; guest artist Lamont "Julio" Johnson, an improvisational tap dancer, will make his Danceworks on Tap return. Other guest performers include co-founder Patrick Kendall and former Danceworks on Tap dancer Adam Hess.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for the traditional look and sound of tap dance," Brinkman-Sustache said, "but I love to find ways to freshen it up by collaborating and blending influences from other dance forms. "TAPtivating" will combine Fosse-style jazz, contemporary dance and even classical ballet with tap dance to create an inventive look and sound."

The Danceworks Studio Theatre is located at 1661 N. Water St.  Tickets for "TAPtivating" are $20 for reserved, $15 for general admission and discount tickets of $10 are available for students and seniors.  Advance ticket purchases are recommended.

Tickets are available at the Danceworks box office by calling (414) 277-8480 ext. 6025, or by visiting danceworksmke.org.  Parking is free in an adjacent lot after 5:00 p.m.
